Thousands and thousands of lights create amazing holiday tour
The Cambria Christmas Market gives visitors a chance to revel in the sights, sounds, and festive ambiance that make Christmastime in Cambria a tradition that continues to delight families throughout the Central Coast for four years running.
The Brennan family made its first visit to the spectacular holiday display this weekend. Beth, Grandma, Grandpa, the kids and I all had a wonderful time. We started our adventure at the marketplace with dinner of traditional german sausages, chili con carne from Linn’s, and hot toddies. We walked around more than a dozen retail booths filled with Christmas gifts like jewelry, arts and crafts like homemade wooden toys, knit clothing and more. We spent a little more than two hours on our leisurely holiday tour of the marketplace and displays.
After some holiday shopping we took a walk though the amazing lights displays. “It’s magical and it’s breathtaking,” George Marschall, Cambria Christmas Market Coordinator, told the San Luis Obispo County Visitors Guide. “The amount of lights that we put up – over one million – is unique to not only this area but even throughout the state,” he said.
The amazing light displays and festive decorations start at the Cambria Pines Lodge. Displays include the Tunnel of Lights, Twelve Days of Christmas, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Grinch, the Nutcracker, and Surfing Santa.
We enjoyed a quartet of saxophone players performing instrumental Christmas Carols before walking over to the Cambria Nursery for more shopping and holiday lights.
If you are interested in checking it out, no parking allowed at Cambria Pines Lodge, which hosts the event. Visitors can take free shuttles to the market, with service pick-ups every 15 minutes from Coast Union High School, located at 2950 Santa Rosa Creek Road.
